சித்தர்கள் “அட்டமா சித்திகள்” பெற்றவர்கள் என்பது ஐதீகம். அட்டம் என்பது எட்டு என்ற எண்ணைக் குறிக்கிறது. சித்தர்கள் பற்றிய ஒரு புத்தகத்தைக் கொஞ்சநாள் முன்பு புரட்டிக் கொண்டிருந்தபோது, அட்டமா சித்திகள் எவை என்ற குறிப்பையும் வாசித்தேன். புத்தகத்திலிருந்து அப்படியே கீழே:
1. அணிமா, 2. மகிமா, 3. இலகிமா, 4. கரிமா, 5. பிரார்த்தி, 6. பிரகாமியம், 7. ஈசத்துவம் 8. வசித்துவம் ஆகியன அட்டமா சித்திகள்.
1. அணிமா என்பது பரம அணுவிலும் சூக்குமமான தேகத்தைக் கொள்ளுதல்
2. மகிமா என்பது பிரம்மலோகப் பரியந்தமுள்ள தேகத்தைக் கொள்ளுதல்
3. இலகிமா என்பது சீக்கிரமாய் சேற்றிலும் நீரிலும் அழுந்தாமல் செல்லும் தேகத்தைக் கொள்ளுதல்
4. கரிமா என்பது மலைகளாலும் வாயுவினாலும் அசைக்க முடியாத பாரத்துடன் இருத்தல்
5. பிராத்தி என்பது மனத்தில் நினைத்தவை அனைத்தும் தன்முன்னே வந்தடையப் பெற்றல்
6. பிரகாமியம் என்பது திவ்ய ரூபமான அனேக பெண்களை மனச்சங்கற்பத்தினால் உண்டாக்கி, யாவரோடும் ஏககாலத்தில் ஏற்ற வடிவங்கள் கொண்டு கூடுதல்
7. ஈசத்துவம் என்பது நான்முகன் முதலிய தேவர்களுக்கு ஆணையிடல்
8. வசித்துவம் என்பது மக்களையும் பிரகிருதியையும் வசியம் செய்து சிருஷ்டி முதலியவற்றைச் செய்தல்
